ABOUT UKRAINE

Ukraine is a country situated in the Eastern Europe. It borders on Russia in the east and north-east, Byelorussia in the north, Poland, Slovakia and Hungary in the west, Romania, Moldavia and unacknowledged Pridnestrovie in the south-west. Ukraine is also washed by the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov. The territory of the state is 603 628 thousand km, the population – 45, 6 mln people. The country is divided into 24 districts, Autonomous Republic of Crimea and 2 cities of republic subordination: Kyiv and Sevastopol. The capital of the country is Kyiv; other large cities are Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Odessa, Donetsk, Zaporizhia, Lviv and Kryvyi Rih.

The climate in Ukraine is mostly moderately continental but on the south shores of the Crimea the climate is Mediterranean, those who travel to Ukraine and want to have a nice rest under the sun should bear this  fact in mind. Ukraine is rich in different water resources, the main water artery is the Dnieper, among big rivers are also the Southern Bug, the Dniester, etc. There are also picturesque lakes, such as Yalpug or Alibey.

The most popular cities for Ukraine travel are Odessa, Lviv, Yalta and of course Kyiv. Everyone can spend their time in Ukraine according to their taste. The nature of Ukraine is very rich and beautiful so the lovers of long walks can go to West Ukraine or the Crimea and walk in the Carpathians, the Crimean Mountains or visit numerous parks. For those who are fond of ancient places, Ukraine is also an excellent choice for a travel. Old castles in West Ukraine such as Khotyn, Kamenets-Podolskiy in small towns of Chernivtsi Oblast or Dubno in Rivne Oblast will satisfy the needs of sophisticated devotees of architecture. For the spiritual nourishment, we advise you to visit famous Ukrainian theatres where the repertoire is diverse and frequently changed; Odessa Opera and Ballet and Lviv Opera and Ballet theatres are considered the best in Ukraine. The architectural values of these theatres are very high. Among other Ukrainian sights we can't but name some significant cathedrals: extremely beautiful Saint Yura Cathedral in Lviv, Pochaevska Lavra near Ternopil, Sofievskiy Cathedral in Kyiv, Kiev-Pechersk Lavra and many others. Speaking about cultural life in Ukraine we also advise you to visit numerous museums as for example memorial museums of significant Ukrainian personalities or museums of modern art. Museum of ancient books in Lutsk castle, Zakarpattya museum of national architecture and way of life, Pinchuk Art Centre which attracts creative people from all over the world as it is a place where up-to-date exhibitions of famous artists are held and many, many other.
